The Kelly Hale Memorial Award
The purpose of The Kelly Hale Memorial Award Fund shall be to honor and celebrate the life and work of Kelly Hale and her devotion to the Carroll County Poultry Judging Contest and the State Poultry Judging Contest. The 4-H State Poultry Judging Contest and awards are held each year at the Maryland State Fair over Labor Day weekend. The awards ceremony is at the Cow Palace in Timonium, Maryland. The 4-H State Poultry Contest is open to all Maryland counties. Each county may have a separate contest and the top four contestants, with an alternate, will go to the state contest at the Maryland State Fair. Since Kelly Hale's focus during poultry judging was oral reasons, it has been determined that the Senior (ages 14-18) with the highest score in reasons, will be the award winner. The award may be used to help finance the trip to the National Poultry and Egg Conference winner. The award may be used to help finance the trip to the National Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky in the fall of the award year or it may be used for future education.
